Deoksugung Pavilion
Designed for the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, the pavilion formed one installation within an ongoing architectural series, where built work and speculative drawing developed in parallel. The project examined seriality through successive iterations, extending the formal and spatial logic of those that preceded it. The completed pavilion occupied a single point within this wider sequence, drawings tested the work beyond its constructed form. Fabricated from anodised coloured steel, the pavilion introduced an elevated public route within the grounds of Deoksugung Palace, inviting visitors to ascend through the structure to overlook the palace complex and its urban surroundings. The changing perspective generated through movement is central to the architectural experience.
